Summer Camp Educators

spectrUM's summer educators have many years combined experience in science and education. They look forward to working with you and your child this summer.

 

Couso
Michael Couso
Couso has worked with spectrUM for over 2 years, serving as a lead educator for many camps and outreach events. Couso has a great interest in robotics and astronomy, This summer, he will serve as a lead educator for spectrUM's Maker's Academy and Robotics Camps.
Sydney Driver
Sydney Driver
Sydney started with spectrUM as a high school student as a BrainLab Intern. Sydney loves anything science! She is now a junior at UM studying biology education and plans on teaching middle and high school biology.
Em Hattouni
Em Hattouni
Em, spectrUM's Summer Camp Coordinator, is a graduate student studying to earn her PhD in School Psychology, focusing on the ways mindfulness-based interventions can be used with children and teachers in school settings. Em has always had a love for science and enjoys learning about the world around her.
Josiah Hinkle
Josiah Hinkle
Josiah majored in biochemistry in 2013, and has always had a passion for science. He lives to learn and to understand everything. His aim is to engage kids in activities that show them the awe-inspiring facets of science so that they too, with a bit of study, can appreciate the amazing reality of the world in which we live.
Jodie-Lee Hostetler
Jodie-Lee Hostetler
Jodie-Lee will be serving as a lead educator for a second year at spectrUM. Jodie-Lee is a music education major at UM and is also an Americorps Team Member through Montana Campus Compact. She has developed many new activities for spectrUM's Discovery Bench, including the Terrific Teeth dentistry activity.
Jessica Jewell
Jessica Jewell
Jessica began working with spectrUM in the spring of 2019. She is studying terrestrial ecological restoration at the University of Montana. She is interested in chemistry, biology, and technology, and favorite spectrUM activities are robotics and kinetic sand.
Nicole Lemaster
Nicole Lemaster
Nicole Lemaster is the Americorps Team Leader for spectrUM Discovery Area for 2018-2019. Originally from Kentucky, Nicole graduated with a degree in microbiology and worked at a child respiratory disease lab in Florida studying viruses. She is in our museum every day, and will be an educator for our Crime Scene Investigators Camp and SciGirls Get Tech Camp.
Emily Schindeldecker
Emily Schindeldecker
Emily is a senior at the University of Montana studying psychology and anthropology, and she is currently an Americorps member through Montana Campus Compact. She is hoping to pursue a career working with children. Emily loves doing science activities with kids, reading, and camping in the summertime. She has worked at spectrUM since spring of 2018 and loves eye dissections!
Haley Shepard
Haley Shepard
Haley has bachelor's degrees in Human Biological Sciences and Cellular and Molecular Neuroscience from the University of Montana. She has previously worked at spectrUM's BrainLab and at EmPower Place at the Missoula Food Bank.
Kristian Stipe
Kristian Stipe
Kristian is the youth development coordinator for the Flagship program at Washington Middle School. Kristian has his masters in chemistry from UM, and returns to spectrUM this summer to lead Maker's Academy and Magic of Chemistry Camps.
Nick Wethington
Nick Wethington

Nicholos is spectrUM's Making and Tinkering Education Specialist and is passionate about sharing his knowledge of science with everyone. Nick works in the museum and with our partners in the Bitterroot valley and on the Flathead Reservation creating hands-on educational experiences that engage everyone’s innate ability to make and create.  Among Nick's many roles at spectrUM, he leads the Maker's Academy Summer Camp.

Kaitlin Wilkinson
Kaitlin Wilkinson

Kaitlin will be with working with spectrUM for her second summer, and is spectrUM's lead educator for many camps, including Sun, Earth, Universe Explorers, and Crime Scene Investigators. Kaitlin is majoring in physics at the University of Montana, and is an Americorps Team Member through Montana Campus Compact.
