“Sports has played an integral part of my life growing up.”

Val Moody

I have always enjoyed science, especially medicine. In high school, my volleyball coach told me about the athletic training profession and once I observed an athletic trainer, I was hooked! My job varies depending on the time of year. I usually teach classes to college students in the mornings and during hockey season, I spend my afternoons at the ice rink providing athletic training services to players anywhere from 4 to 21 years old. Most of my time is spent working with kids who have had a concussion. The best part about my job is that I help college students become athletic trainers and I keep kids safe in their athletic activities. When I’m not working, I enjoy playing ice hockey and fly fishing with my husband and two children.

Learning science is so interesting because it is always changing and evolving. There is always something new to learn!
